Hedgehogs As Pets
Hedgehogs may not be the most cuddly pet, but they still make excellent pets. They are easy to care for, and are a fassinating pet. They can live up to 8 years but 4-6 years is more common.
Food
Hedgehogs eat a variety of items. They eat high quality cat food, such as Newmans, Royal Canin, and Wellness. For treats they love mealworms and crickets. They also eat fruits and veggies.
Housing
There are many options for housing a hedgehog. Here we use large guniea pig style cages. These are very easy to clean and give the hedgehog plenty of room.
Bedding
You will need something to use in the cage as a liner or bedding. There are several kinds of bedding you can use, pine, aspen, cellsorb and also liners. Do NOT use cedar bedding, as this bedding can cause respiratory problems in your hedgehog and can even kill them.
